Essays on Iran is a nonpartisan and independent forum. It is neither Islamic nor anti-Islam; neither communist nor anti-communist; neither monarchist nor anti-monarchist. It does not exist to defend a particular ideology, faction, party, or political figure.

Iran is a mother to us all. She belongs equally to Iranians of every faith and of no faith, to those of every political persuasion, and to those still searching for one. No group can claim Iran as its exclusive inheritance.

We believe that a freer and better society can emerge only through open dialogue, coherent reasoning, and the honest exchange of ideas. Our differences are real, and they should not be concealed. But they need not overshadow the profound inheritance we share: a deep and ancient history, a rich culture, and traditions of hospitality, warmth, and kindness.

Essays on Iran welcomes essays from across the political, religious, and philosophical spectrum, regardless of the conclusions they reach. We publish essays in English, Parsi, and any other language in which a writer can express their ideas clearly and fully. Iran has always been home to many languages and voices, and we believe worthy ideas should not be excluded because of the language in which they are written.

Publication does not imply endorsement. We ask only that arguments be made honestly and thoughtfully, without hatred toward any people or group and without the glorification or advocacy of unnecessary violence.

Our purpose is not to tell Iranians what they must believe. It is to create a place where we can reason together, seriously and respectfully, with Iran always at the centre.
